Emergency Provider Backup Program, Proposed State Plan on Aging, Virtual Town Hall on COVID-19
Access Living friends and allies,
Today, we’d like to alert you to some Illinois specific opportunities.
Emergency Provider Back-Up Program at Access Living: If you currently receive home services through the state and need an emergency provider due to COVID-19, Access Living can help! The type of provider available through this program is a personal assistant, who provides personal care such as grooming, bathing and feeding. This program is for people experiencing an emergency gap in their care; the providers available with this program can work with someone for a maximum of two weeks to bridge a care gap. The program is available statewide. Call 312 640 2169, or email bchick@accessliving.org.
Comment on Illinois Proposed State Plan on Aging: The Illinois Department on Aging has drafted a state plan for its services for seniors all across the state. The draft plan can be viewed here. The public can comment on the draft plan though this coming Sunday, November 15. See this link to learn more information and to see the draft plan. Although the public town hall meetings are over, people can email in their comments or send in comments via the form at the link. Don’t miss out on this critical opportunity to ensure that the State of Illinois is meeting the disability needs of seniors.
Reminder, Disability Covid-19 Town Hall!: Don’t forget that tomorrow, Wednesday November 11, is Access Living’s virtual Town Hall to discuss the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on people with disabilities. The event is free and it is from 4 pm to 5:30 pm Central Time. You can participate by video and/or phone, but you must RSVP. Event info and RSVP info is at this link. Join us! We would love to hear what issues you are facing, and what strategies you are using to cope with the pandemic.
