Feb 6 - National Day of Action to Save Medicaid!

February 5, 2025 | by Emma Olson

Tomorrow, Thursday February 6, is a national day of action to defend Medicaid. We need YOU! Hundreds of human services and advocacy groups are preparing to let Congress know TOMORROW that cutting Medicaid is a life or death issue for millions of people across the United States.

Who is taking action?

Some examples of groups helping to lead the way are: Families USA, the National Health Law Program (NHeLP), Community Catalyst, Caring Across Generations, the Arc of the United States, and many, many more! These groups are part of a national coalition called Protect Medicaid. Access Living is a proud member of Protect Medicaid.

Why is there a problem?

Right now, Congress is considering changes to Medicaid that include work requirements, changing the funding structure, and more. All of these changes would cut money to Medicaid in order to fund tax cuts. But, what we know is that Medicaid matters—a cut to Medicaid is a cut to supports and healthcare that people cannot do without. Plus, cutting Medicaid means cutting the jobs of people who provide healthcare and long term services and supports. We need you NOW!

What can you do?
