Access Living Names Five New Board Members at 2020 Annual Meeting

Chicago – Earlier this week, at its annual meeting, Access Living named five new members to its Board of Directors. Board members serve three-year terms with the option of serving a second term upon completion of the first.

The following people were named to the Board on December 7, 2020.

Denise Avant – Denise is the First Vice President of the National Federation of the Blind of Illinois, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Federation of the Blind, as well as on the board of the National Association of Blind Lawyers, a division of the NFB. She is the chair of the American Bar Association Commission on Disability Rights. She also serves as a Member at Large/Disability to the ABA’s nominating committee for the House of Delegates.

Anthony, A.E. Hinton – A.E.Hinton is a creative writer, who has authored three compelling novels to date. His most recent book, “The Adventures Of New Wheels For Nick!” will be published online before the end of 2020, and includes an ongoing series of video books that explore the different types of disabilities people live with. He has received numerous awards for his contributions and public education efforts. Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, A.E. has lived in Chicago since 1984. 

Karin Norington-ReavesKarin Norington-Reaves is a lifelong public servant with more than 25 years of experience in education, law, advocacy, community, and workforce development. In 2012, Karin became the founding Chief Executive Officer of The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. As CEO and change agent, she led the merger and restructuring of three diverse workforce systems into the nation’s most extensive workforce system managed by a non-profit administrative agency. The Partnership’s network of 50+ community-based organizations, 10 American Job Centers, and four sector-driven workforce centers serves more than 140,000 people annually.

Beth ServerBeth Server is the Managing Director, Benefits & Recognition for BMO Financial Group. She leads the team responsible for the strategic and administrative processes for BMO’s global health and welfare benefit programs and the enterprise employee recognition program. She is a member of the BMO US Employee Resource Group, BMO Without Barriers, which is an employee group / community that represents BMO’s commitment to creating an inclusive work environment by helping its employees recognize and share their diversity.

Chad Turner – Chad Turner is a Director, Senior Treasury Product Manager at Bank of America in Chicago. Chad’s passion for supporting the disability com-munity comes through his personal experiences, not only as an ally in the workforce but also as someone with a disability. Chad currently serves on the leadership team of the Bank of America Disability Action Network employee resource group Chicago chapter. Previously while employed at JPMorgan Chase, Chad served on Chase’s Access Ability Business Resource Group’s national board. Chad is a 2017 Fellow with ADA25 Advancing Leadership and now serves on their board of directors. Chad has also served on the finance committee for Access Living since 2019 and the auditor selection subcommittee.
