The bill to create statewide source of income (SOI) housing protections, HB 2775, has been assigned to the Senate Executive Committee for a hearing TODAY, March 30th, at 2pm.
This legislation will create statewide anti-discrimination housing protections in Illinois by making it illegal for landlords to refuse to rent to individuals or families solely for using public benefits, including rental subsidies, or other legal, non-wage income, such as social security, to pay for rent.
This is the closest we’ve gotten to passing statewide source of income protections in Illinois.
While the support has been strong, the next step is to demonstrate that there are hundreds of proponents of the bill to get it over the finish line.

Section One – Identification
- Enter your name, address, city, and zip code
- For Firm/Business/Agency: enter Self
- For Title: enter None
- Enter your email address and phone number

- Select “Original Bill” and then mark that you are a “Proponent.”
