Access Living Statement on the Passage of Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance Amendments

Access Living stands in solidarity with the Chicago Immigration Working Group as we celebrate the passing of Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance Amendments. Today, immigrants living in the city of Chicago will no longer be put at risk of ICE detainment operations through the Chicago Police Department. The City of Chicago has taken an important step forward in its intention of truly being a sanctuary city and a more welcoming place for all.

“Because of the hard fought efforts of this working group, not only is Chicago a more welcoming city, but members of the disability community can access the essential supports they need without fear of deportation.” Michelle Garcia, a community organizer from Access Living said.
