We Need Your Help to Stop Cuts to Medicaid!
Medicaid Cuts Threaten the Independence and Well-Being of People with Disabilities
Medicaid, a program that helps millions of people with disabilities pay for healthcare, home services, and other needs is under attack in Washington DC. Millions of people are at risk of losing Medicaid.
Illinois Residents: Aren’t sure if you have Medicaid? Look at your healthcare card. If it says “Medical Assistance Program,” you have Medicaid in Illinois.

Why this is so important for people with disabilities:
Medicaid is a lifeline – Medicaid provides essential health care and support services that enable people with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in the community. Without Medicaid, many of us would lose access to vital medical treatments, therapies, and assistive technologies.
Home and Community-Based Services are at risk – Medicaid funds critical home care services that help us with daily activities. Cutting Medicaid would force more disabled people into institutional settings.
Medicaid cuts will hurt the disability workforce and economy – Many people with disabilities rely on direct support professionals, home health aides, and other Medicaid-funded providers. Budget reductions would lead to workforce shortages, increased caregiver burnout, and lower wages—putting essential services at risk and making it even harder for us to access the care they need.
Children with disabilities will lose crucial supports – More than half of Illinois’ children rely on Medicaid, including those with disabilities who need early intervention, therapies, and specialized care. Medicaid cuts could severely limit access to these services, impacting their long-term development, education, and quality of life.
